Video production raising awareness of veteran's mental health

The Project.

For over a century, Combat Stress have helped former servicemen and women with complex mental health issues resulting from their experiences during military service, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Working in collaboration with one of our creative partners, we produced a Digital Welcome Pack for Combat Stress, aimed at helping those who’ve reached out to the charity for assistance with their mental health.

Objectives.

Show veterans who have reached out for support what to expect
Create an emotionally supportive tone that aligns with the charity’s values
Identify the key stages of treatment with Combat Stress

The Solution.

Shot on location at Combat Stress’ treatment facility, the 7 minute video features Steve — a veteran who sought help from Combat Stress 10 years after leaving the armed forces. The video also features Fay — one of the clinicians at Combat Stress who works closely with veterans.

A delicate and sensitive approach was needed when approaching the film’s complex subject matter. The video had to acknowledge the seriousness of the mental health challenges that veterans experience, while remaining positive and informative — helping those currently battling with their mental health to see that real help is available.

Motion graphics based on Combat Stress’ existing visual language were created to support the information on screen.

The Result.

The final video has been widely used by Combat Stress as part of their Digital Welcome Pack to assist veterans who’ve reached out to the charity for support with their mental health.
